This lot shares borders with Mastung and Nushki in North, Kharan in the West and Bolan Districts in North-East, and Khuzdar District in South East.
Kalat District was once part of the Khanate of Kalat – the largest khanate in Baluchistan by area that was established in 1638. The state ceded to Pakistan in 1948 however, in 1952 it formed Baluchistan States Union with two other princely states. With the creation of one unit in 1955, the former state of Kalat was disbanded and eventually 3 districts were carved from the areas of Khanate of Kalat – Kalat, Khuzdar and Mastung.
