Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom held an event to recognize major milestones achieved by the Ministry of IT and for carrying out Contract Signing of Broadband for Sustainable Development Projects. In line with the Prime Ministers vision of a “Digital Pakistan”, the Broadband for Sustainable Development project plans to provide Mobile Broadband Internet/3G services in the un-served and underserved areas of Dera Bugti and Kharan-Washuk. 
While speaking at the occasion, Minister for IT & Telecom Anusha Rehman said that the Government of Pakistan is striving to increase the level of telecom penetration significantly in the under-served and un-served areas. Minister said that according to plan of digital Pakistan envisioned by Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, every village with 100 population or more of Pakistan would be connected and get mobile phone services. She informed the audience that through the Broadband for Sustainable Development Projects, services will now be provided in 396 un-served Mauzas of Dera Bugti with population of 333,100 and in 289 un-served muzas of Kharan-Washuk with population of 222,000. Outlining the future vision of the Universal Services Fund, she pointed out that after the launch of the upcoming planned projects in FATA, all the projects of USF will be successfully completed by Ministry of IT. 

The minister recognized that even though universal services were essential, it was important to enable these services through access by launching programs like “ICT for Girls Program” which are playing a huge role in women empowerment and employability. 
Mrs. Anusha Rahman concluded in stating the fact that Ministry of IT has fulfilled all its promises made in 2013 which ensured that the current PML(N) government was transparent in every process and was based on the foundation of good governance.
