NATIONAL ROAMING: A GAME-CHANGER FOR PAKISTAN’S CONNECTIVITY

15th August, 2024 National Roaming: A Game-Changer for Pakistan’s Connectivity

On the launch of the National Roaming Services, Minister for IT and Telecommunication Ms. Shaza Fatima, appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders and emphasized the need to extend this facility to underserved areas where telecom users face challenges due to the unavailability of specific mobile networks. With this initiative, we celebrate a pivotal moment in Pakistan's journey toward greater digital inclusivity. National roaming allows mobile users to access different networks using a single SIM card, ensuring uninterrupted service even in areas where their primary network is unavailable.

Universal Service Fund - Pakistan has been at the forefront of this effort, driving the integration of crucial infrastructure and making national roaming a fundamental requirement in all our projects. With over 2,000 km of highways and motorways already covered through USF’s initiatives, and more to come, we are committed to closing the digital divide and ensuring every citizen has access to reliable mobile coverage. This initiative will also make our roads safer, enable access to emergency services, and promote tourism, contributing to a more prosperous and secure Pakistan. We are proud to lead the way in building a more connected and digitally empowered nation.

The efforts by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) are to be commended in supporting the industry and bringing National Roaming Services to life. Together, we are advancing towards a more connected and digitally inclusive Pakistan.
